Freak out time!
Just a little nervous about my six foot track marathon preparations.
I feel i may have left my last long run a little too early and it will be 4 weeks from race day.Plus i havent done much aerobic runing since that time and even had one week with only 19 km travelled.This week was probably just as short.
In short i am feeling uncharacteristically out of sorts.I am not of the opinion that you lose fitness fast but i feel i may have just lost my edge.
Felt great on 4th feb when i ran megalong mega in 2:17 to pluviometer from megalong road and 2:03 return after a 5min water stop.
Anyway my taper seems to have gone pear shaped and i have lost confidence in my ability now.
Thats just not like me but it feels as though there is some basis to it....
Enough whining its only 3 days now,what else can i do?

4 weeks out is ok for the last really long run. Mine has been 40/30/20 but thats just me. After Six Foot I'll be looking at getting faster over longer distance. So some Marathon pace runs will be happening. Plus some more long reps. Good Luck for the race and I might see you at the tree.
I just read a bit about Six Foot Track yesterday, and from the looks of it, the course requires as much strength as fitness. Based on your recent 3000m and 5k performances, you are likely as strong as you have ever been, which is good.
The taper may have been a bit much, but you will certainly be fresh, and it is always better to be undertrained and fresh than overtrained and tired.
Mind the uphills, and run an even effort. You'll do well!

You'll be right, as you've probably gathered people have varying opinions on the taper, to that end, each to their own.
I wouldn't worry about it too much (easier said than done). The only way it'll go pear shaped is if you talk yourself into it. Stay positive, you'll run a blinder.

You should be nervous this race, by all accounts, is a tough one.
Having said that you are ready, strong and, I feel, are going to make the most out of this opportunity.

All the best for 6FT - don't stress over the timing of the long run. As the others have noted, your base looks pretty solid - and as for those recent PBs, congrats! That's a super 5k time for a road race, let alone a XC

After such intense training for so long we suddenly back off a bit so of course you get the feeling you aren't doing enough and have lost fitness etc. This is normal for most people. And trust me, within the first two or three kms you will have forgotten all about.
Nerves are normal too. My theory is that the more nervous you are the more prepared you are for a good run. If you were undertrained and unprepared you would be lining up at start line not worrying too much as you'd know you weren't going to do a good time.
Enjoy the next few days. And keep on whining if it helps. Better not do too much wining though :-)
Sounds like well rested is not that bad a thing. I'm sure you'll warm into the race well with your longer term training behind you.

All the advice above is great. You've been building on your mountain running base now for quite a while, you wont lose any of that. For a race like this you are better to be well rested than overtrained.
I'm sure you will do fine and good luck.

As me old parachute instructor used to say "feet and knees together and accept the landing" ie sometimes ya just gotta take what is about to be dished up to you.
You will be fine mate - there are enough hilly k's in those pins of yours to get you by.
