Well i will start by wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!

Did Quarry Road yesterday.
Got up at 3:45am and was driving by about 4:05am,
we (Sophie and I) arrived at about 15minutes before the scheduled start time.

Had a reasonable run after feeling flat for the first lap (which was surprisingly a slightly negative split)

Had a power bar after the start of the second lap and although it tasted like cardboard, yuk! it did the trick as i gradually felt much better.Honestly even though i didn't "race" i was kinda pleased with the way i handled the hills on the second lap.

I may need another hill climbing lesson with master Sophie though!

Anyway splits were
36:32
36:28
40:25
36:34

Thanks to mouse and nite time runner for the chat and banana cake at middle of second lap!

Hope you have had a great day?
I had chrissy with the family yesterday as i had to work early and didn't get home until 6pm got some nice presents and had a lot of fun playtime with Jacob who has started walking this week!

He is very steady on his feet and i am already thinking to the day that he will come jogging with daddy!

Thats all for now,
R2B

Good to see you again. Great running by yourself and Sophie yesterday. I guess we'll see you both at Black Stump. Merry Christmas.

Nice to meet you on Sunday R2B. Good luck with the goal of getting into 6 Foot. I am sure you will qualify and run very well.

Good to meet you too (finally) R2B.

Those were great splits - provided you can twist Kevins arm you will do fine at Six Foot.

How long was "Quarry Road"? I hate yucky bars. Merry Christmas!

Jacob is probably thinking the same thing!

Sounds like you all had a great time on the Quarry Rd run. Strange how the tougher the run the more 'fun' it seems ... well, afterwards anyway :-)

Just got your msg re the Coastal Classic. Woohoo!!! I'm sure you will love it. The Caboolture D2D was the highlight of my year.

Here is the Feb archive of my blog -

Hope you can find something useful in there.

What you do need to totally ignore is all the runs I did afterwards. I made the mistake of getting back into things too soon and paid the price with lots of time off from an ITB injury. Idiot!

It looks like you had a good time at Quarry Road which sounds like a really tough run. Hope you had a great Christmas with your family and I wish you a very happy 2007 with lots of great running.

Those splits look good to me - a few 4 hour runs will see you more than ready for 6'. Glad you had a great Christmas - all the best for 2007!

I discovered the power bars only this year and now I know that they work very well before the long runs.
Happy New Year to you and yours
